Stay Alert - Coosa Pines Members Not Immune to Fraud Attempts
Coosa Pines FCU has been notified that a number of text messages and emails are being sent to bank customers and credit union members in the area with subjects such as:

These high-tech thieves are also staying low-tech, by making phone calls and leaving answering machine or voice mail messages with about the same ideas. They want you to give them some type of personal or financial information for "verification purposes" so that they can help you with whatever they say is wrong with your account, credit card, debit card, etc.
The thing about these calls and messages is that the scammers do not know who is a customer of a particular bank or a member of a credit union. These messages/ contacts are sent out in mass numbers. The criminals know that most will land off-target and either be erased immediately or deleted as spam, but they are counting on the few messages or emails that hit their mark in the cell phones, answering machines or email inboxes of unsuspecting victims.
We have received warnings from the Alabama Credit Union League regarding calls or messages that claimed to have been sent from Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and Family Savings FCU. We also know that a few Coosa Pines FCU members have received fraudulent messages.
Please be aware that any such contact is fraudulent.
As your credit union, we already have the information that we need.
We would never use such means of contact (emails, texts, etc.) to gather information from you.
If you receive such a contact, please do not respond, but notify your credit union as soon as possible. Please feel free to call on us if you have questions or concerns regarding identity theft, internet fraud or how to protect your assets. As always, your security and peace of mind are our priority.
