Coosa Pines FCU checking accounts were featured in a January 14th blog on NerdWallet.com.  The article, "Free Checking at Credit Unions -- NerdWallet's New Year Picks", suggested that consumers who are fed up with their banks find and join a credit union, touting CUs' "totally free checking accounts".

"Credit unions have a greater responsibility to see their members profit, because every member is a shareholder.  When the shareholders are profiting, the credit union is profiting."

The blog touched on the recent "decline of the big banks' empire" and parallel rise in credit union membership.  "Credit unions offer a greater potential return on investments for consumers with smaller budgets, and offer a more personal and community-oriented approach to personal finance."
